Milestone: Celebrating 40 Years of Work

Today is a special day. Today is the day my husband retires after 40 years of working.

He loves helping people. He was good at his job. He loved to teach the up and coming firefighters. Many have learned the wisdom of "Uncle Tom".

He loved the history and brotherhood of the Fire Service.

He's heading home from his last official shift. Welcome home Baby!

Congratulations, what a wonderful accomplishment! Our "firemen" do amazing work on scene, helping the sick and injured, and saving lives and property. 40 years?! That's really something. My hubby has 10 full-time years in, but 17 since he started as a paid-on call.

I love the photos - your husband is a lucky man to have found his calling doing something that make the world a better place. I'm sure he has some stories to tell! Is he going to start sewing now ;-) ?

Oh Mary - I'm sure it's a very bittersweet day for Tom. Congratulations to him for all he's done. g

Congratulations! 40 years is so impressive in any job, much less a physical job involved danger, dedication, and not a whole lot of pay. He is a good one!
