Onward and Upward

I wandered over to Borders on my lunch today. I like books. I have lots of books, so I try to utilize the library as much as possible to check out books before I add them to my library.  I was armed with a coupon for 30% off and another for a free cup of coffee. I intended to pick up the Ree Drummond's Pioneer Woman's cookbook, but I was sidetracked by the One Yard Wonders book.  Leafing through it I saw this adorable pattern to make a child's fire helmet and I had to have it. Sorry Ree...next coupon.  I had seen notices soliciting submissions for the next one yard wonders book that will feature using different types of fabrics.  So scatter brain is now in hyper drive thinking up patterns to submit.  I have a couple of ideas already screaming to be let out...just what I need, something else to do!  I love to create!!!

I love books too. I've been thinking about organizing a used book sale at our church and letting the proceeds go to our puppet ministry. I could supply almost enough books myself.

Have you seen the Pioneer Woman's book? I pre ordered it and although it's lovely, I wasn't that impressed. Don't get me wrong, I LURVE Ree, lurve her site and wanted to support it. It's just many of the recipes are already on her site or are simple preparations that most of us don't use recipes for. Like lasagna.......

Clearly, I have trouble with books too. My cookbook collection is the only thing that exceeds my fabric collection.

I collect cookbooks too Cindy Ann! I'm trying to be better a out actually using them! One of my favorites is an old White House cookbook my husband's granny gave me! Has tips from how to make the best biscuits to how to cure the common cold!!!

Hi Mary,

I'm so glad I visited your blog! You seem like a 'kindred' spirit. I love sewing, but the Homemaking Made Easy is my 'ministry'. I would just sew all day if I had my 'druthers. (See DC's Creations (www.donnacarolscreations.blogspot.com))

You should check out today's post if you like country living. It's called, "Jacob's Happy Meal...but it didn't come from McDonald's". It's all about our first experience while making fried chicken from scratch and I mean starting with a live chicken. (No nasty pictures of course!) He did just fine. There are lots of cute pictures of my babies who are all chickens and have names. :o)

Wish I could sew more...but still have too many kids at home. I'm at 22 years of homeschooling and counting..but I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I think it's on my sewing machine!! Ha!
