Music Monday

Today's entry is about music that motivates. I recently decided it was time to get back into running again. Last year I did a Couch to 5K program that really whipped me into shape. I was running every day and had worked my distance up...not to marathon status of course, but I could run 4 miles without stopping, which was a big deal to me. Then I had some hip pain, so I slacked off and then the slide back down to where I started. Anyway, enough about that negative stuff. Music helps get me over the hump so to speak when I feel like slowing down. Today I ran to Rihanna, which I have wrote about before, but it got me thinking about other musicians who keep me running. Before I get the inevitable safety spiel about how "running with an ipod can kill you", I run on my treadmill. I'm more likely to be killed flying off the back than be hit by a car. Like The Cars. (I love that segueway...sometimes I amuse myself!) Their rocking groove gets my motor running. Who could forget their video of "You might Think" where Rick Ocasek was a fly...classic stuff, I'm telling you. And of course, the Office Depot classic..."You're just what I Needed" How could you not run listening to that? So what music motivates you, dear readers?

I'm a country girl so I have Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw & the Dixie Chicks loaded into my iPod. But I walk on my treadmill. g

Mary, I tracked you from Becky's new blog about nursing school. Thanks for visiting her blog and encouraging her.

I started Couch to 5K last year but I never finished it. I just couldn't seem to get past week 4. It was a killer for me. So according to my usual custom, I haven't exercised regularly in, oh, about a year. But I intend to start right now! Seriously, I'm going downstairs to get on my treadmill right now. I'll leave a comment about my workout play list later.

Good for you Paula...get on that treadmill and ride!!! I remember week 4 as being tough too and like week 6 or 7 the music started annoying me so much I thought Robert was going to have to go, but I got through it. I could kick myself for sliding back though. I am truly excited for Becky going to nursing school...it really made a difference in my life. I enjoy reading your blog, because I enjoy sewing blogs...yours too Gaylen...love to hear about them dogs!!! and because I grew up in your neck of the woods...Granite Falls girl. Moved away when I got married, but you never forget your childhood home! Thanks for hanging with me...Mary
